Keyless Buzzer Circuit Troubleshooting (2016)

  1. Open wire check (PGND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector - Refer to: Keyless/Power Tailgate Outside Buzzer Removal and Installation, or Keyless/Power Tailgate Outside Buzzer Removal and Installation

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit PGND
    Test point 1 Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector No. 1 (BLK)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The PGND wire is OK. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G603).

  2. Open wire check (EXT BUZ line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Rear fuse/relay box connector A (44P)

    - 2. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    Terminal A Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector No. 2 (YEL)
    Terminal B Body ground

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector: disconnected Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector: jumped to body groundRear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected
    Test circuit EXT BUZ
    Test point 1 Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P) No. 14 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The EXT BUZ wire is not open. Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.

  3. Shorted wire check (EXT BUZ line)

    -1. Remove the jumper wire from the keyless buzzer 2P connector.

    - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer 2P connector: disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected
    Test circuit EXT BUZ
    Test point 1 Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P) No. 14 (WHT)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to ground in the wire.

    NO 

    The EXT BUZ wire is OK. Go to step 4.

  4. Keyless/power tailgate outside buzzer check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good keyless buzzer.

    - 2. Check the keyless buzzer function.

    Does the keyless buzzer sound?

    YES 

    Replace the original keyless buzzer - Refer to: Keyless/Power Tailgate Outside Buzzer Removal and Installation, or Keyless/Power Tailgate Outside Buzzer Removal and Installation .

    NO 

    Faulty rear MICU, replace the rear fuse/relay box .
