SMS Function Check
The SMS Function Check tests the connection between the vehicle and the Acura server. It checks to make sure that the telematics control unit can send and receive SMS messages with the Acura server through the network.
1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
2. Press and hold the MENU button, the NAV button, and the BACK button for 3 seconds or more, and the System Diagnostic Mode begins.

3. When the Select Diagnosis Items menu is displayed, select the Detail Information and Setting.
4. Select the Unit Check from the Detail Information and Setting menu.
5. Select the TCU from the Unit Check menu.
6. Select the Test from the TCU Status.
7. Select the SMS Check to check the SMS function status. If you select the SMS Check, the telematics control unit transmits a message to the Acura server to check a network connection. Before selection, check if the Tel Signal Strength indicates 4 or 5.
8. When the SMS Check is completed, The Result indicates OK or NG.
- If OK, the SMS function is OK at this time (the AcuraLink system status indicator shows green for 10 seconds).
- If NG, there is a problem in the SMS function (the AcuraLink system status indicator shows red for 10 seconds). Go to AcuraLink services do not work troubleshooting - Refer to: AcuraLink Symptom Troubleshooting - AcuraLink system status indicator does not come on (2017 2018 2019 2020), or AcuraLink Symptom Troubleshooting - AcuraLink services do not work, or AcuraLink Symptom Troubleshooting - AcuraLink system status indicator does not come on .
9. To end the System Diagnostic Mode, select the Return until the general screen is displayed, or turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
