Voice guidance cannot be heard, is broken up, or there is static
Voice guidance cannot be heard, is broken up, or there is static
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first - Refer to:
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Determine possible failure area (volume settings, others)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Check the volume and voice feedback setting for the navigation system in set-up.
Is either set to OFF?
YES
Set the voice feedback to ON, and select an audible level for the volume.
NO
Go to step 2.
- Problem verification
-1. Check the navigation voice guidance output.
Does the system output the voice guidance?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO
The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.
- Determine possible failure area (voice guidance output circuit, others)
-1. Do the Speaker Check and make sure center speaker sound levels are normal.
Does the audio system work normally and is the audio output from the speaker normal when doing the speaker checkΩ
YES
Go to step 4.
NO: The sound is cannot be heard in all speakers
NO: The sound is cannot be heard in front center speaker
- Shorted wire check (NAVI L CH line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Test circuit NAVI L CH Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 10 (RED) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier.
NO
The NAVI L CH wire is not shorted to ground. Go to step 5.
- Shorted wire check (NAVI lines)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Test circuits Connector: Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) Test point 1 Test points 2 SH NAVI to NAVI GND, NAVI L CH No. 1 (GRY) No. 2 (BLU), No. 10 (RED) NAVI GND to NAVI L CH No. 2 (BLU) No. 10 (RED) Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES
There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO
The NAVI wires are not shorted in the wires. Go to step 6.
- Open wire check (NAVI L CH line, NAVI GND line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P): disconnected Stereo amplifier connector B (28P): disconnected Test circuit NAVI GND Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 2 (BLU) Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 4 (BLU) Test circuit NAVI L CH Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector H (16P) No. 10 (RED) Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 19 (RED) Is there continuity?
YES
The NAVI L CH and the NAVI GND wires are OK. Go to step 7.
NO
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.
- Stereo amplifier check (substitution)
-1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier.
- 2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES
Replace the original stereo amplifier .
NO
