EPS Symptom Troubleshooting Index

When the vehicle has one of these symptoms, check for a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) with the HDS. If there is no DTC, do the diagnostic procedure for the symptom, in the sequence listed, until you find the cause.

EPS indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored	- 1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function - Refer to: Gauges Self-Diagnostic Function (2017 2018 2019 2020) , or Gauges Self-Diagnostic Function (2016) , or Gauges Self-Diagnostic Function (2014 2015) . - 2. EPS indicator is not on, no DTCs are stored, but there is no power assist or power assist is reduced	- 1. Check the EPS motor power wires between the EPS control unit and the EPS motor for a short to body ground. Repair as needed. - 2. If the EPS motor power wires are OK, replace the steering gearbox (short in the EPS motor) . - 3. Check the power and body ground connections at the EPS control unit.
