Driver's Power Lumbar Support Valve Unit Input Test

NOTE:  Before testing, make sure the No. D29 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is OK.

1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

2. Disconnect the driver's power lumbar support valve unit 8P connector

3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

4. Reconnect the 8P connector to the valve unit, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
8 PNK Driver's power lumbar support switch (FORWARD) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty driver's power lumbar support switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
5 GRN Driver's power lumbar support switch (BACKWARD) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty driver's power lumbar support switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
6 YEL Driver's power lumbar support switch (DOWN) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty driver's power lumbar support switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
7 PUR Driver's power lumbar support switch (UP) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty driver's power lumbar support switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

6. Disconnect the 8P connector from the valve unit, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
4 RED Disconnect the driver's power lumbar support pump 2P connector Check for continuity between terminal No. 4 and driver's power lumbar support pump 2P connector terminal No. 2: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
1 LT GRN In all power modes Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity.
  • Poor ground (G801)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
Disconnect the driver's power lumbar support pump 2P connector Check for continuity between terminal No. 1 and driver's power lumbar support pump 2P connector terminal No. 1: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire
