DTC P1297

DTC P1297:  Electrical Load Detector (ELD) Circuit Low Voltage

General Description

GHH344165Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

The electrical load detector (ELD) is built into the main under-hood fuse box. It monitors the current fed to the ignition switch and sends a signal to the powertrain control module (PCM). If the ELD output voltage is extremely low, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
