Multi View Camera System (MVCS) Description - Overview
Multi View Camera System (MVCS) Function
The multi view camera system is used to check images on the monitor from four cameras which cover blind spots from the driver's seat. This can be used as a supplementary system to reduce strain on the driver. The multi view camera system is intended to reduce the strain of driving. It is used to check the situation in areas that are prone to becoming blind spots from the driver's seat.
- This multi view camera system has a ground view that displays a surrounding image of a vehicle on a screen in a bird's-eye view. The ground view image is created by combinations of image inputs from four wide-angle cameras (one at the front, one at the rear, one at the right side, and one at the left side). The image is used to eliminate some blind spots, particularly when parking a vehicle.
- The view options (other than the ground view) are a front view, side view, mirror view, front blind view. The suitable views are for the driving situation displayed on the audio unit. These views are automatically chosen by the system corresponding to the driving situations.
- The multi view camera system uses vehicle speed signal inputs and parking brake signal inputs sent from the F-CAN to choose the suitable views to display on the screen. The multi view camera system also uses signal inputs sent from the steering angle sensor to correct strains on the images.
How to Change Views
The screen shows a combination of camera images. It is possible to switch between images as needed.
When the select lever is in R position:
- Set the select lever to the R position to turn on the multi view camera system.
- Then, the rear view and ground view are displayed on the screen. Press the camera switch again to put the mirror view on the screen (the ground view to background).
When the select lever is in the position other than R:
- Press the camera switch while a vehicle is driving at 7 mph (12 km/h) or less to turn on the multi view camera system.
- Then, the front view and ground view are displayed on the screen. Press the camera switch several times to change views. Each time you press the camera switch, it will cycle through the view types in order from the front view and ground view, to the front blind view, and to the left side view, and then it repeats the sequence. Also, to see both sides of the vehicle on the screen, select the left side view, then press and hold the camera switch for more than 2 seconds.
