Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Symptom Troubleshooting Index (Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)) (2019, 2020, 2021)

Symptom  Diagnostic procedure  Also check for 
CMBS OFF switch does not turn On/turn Off (CMBS indicator does not change)
  • An open or increased resistance in the wire
  • A short in the wire
The MID does not indicate when the CMBS OFF switch is operated
  • An open or increased resistance in the wire
  • A short in the wire
The buzzer does not sound Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .  
The buzzer does not sound when the CMBS OFF switch is operated Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .  
The MID does not indicate with the CMBS operating Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .  
The CMBS operates frequently Driving conditions, weather, environmental influence
The CMBS operated without danger of collision Driving conditions, weather, environmental influence
The CMBS did not operate
  • Driving conditions, weather, environmental influences
  • Undetectable environment
CMBS indicator (on the MID) does not come on Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .  
CMBS indicator (on the MID) does not go off
NOTE: If any of the CAN communication failure DTC is indicated in another system, troubleshoot the DTC first.
  • Check for open wire or shorted wire in the F-CAN circuit;
    • Between the gauge control module and the CAN gateway (F-CAN D_H, F-CAN D_L)
    • Between the millimeter wave radar and the CAN gateway (F-CAN E_H, F-CAN E_L)
  • Check the millimeter wave radar power circuit (IG1_VSA(VST))
  • Check the millimeter wave radar unit ground circuit (GND)
  • Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function .
