Cooling Fan Controls Symptom Troubleshooting Index

NOTE: Do an all DTC check with the HDS, and troubleshoot any DTCs first before following the repair procedures listed in the index.

Symptom	Diagnostic Procedure	Also check for
Engine overheats	Check the coolant level - Refer to: Coolant Check . Check for any engine coolant leakage (from gaskets, hoses, O-rings, etc.). Check for dirt, leaves, or insects on the radiator and the A/C condenser. Check for deteriorated coolant. Check for a damaged or deformed fan shrouds. Check the fan motors are operating properly (air should be blowing toward the engine). Inspect the fan motors or fan relays . Check the radiator cap . Check the thermostat . Inspect the water pump . Check for clogged radiator. Check for plugged or deteriorated radiator hoses. Check for a plugged heater core or hoses. Check for a damaged cylinder head gasket.	Check the radiator and A/C condenser fans are operating properly
The radiator fan does not run at high speed	Radiator fan high speed circuit troubleshooting .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
Both the radiator fan and the A/C condenser fan do not run at low speed	Symptom troubleshooting - Refer to: Climate Control System Symptom Troubleshooting - The A/C condenser/radiator fans do not run at low speed with the A/C on, but the blower and heater controls work normally .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
The A/C condenser fan does not run at high speed	Symptom troubleshooting - Refer to: Climate Control System Symptom Troubleshooting - The A/C condenser/radiator fans do not run at high speed, but do run at low speed with the A/C on .	Check the connectors are properly connected and the terminals are making good contact
