Blind Spot Information (BSI) System Description (2019 2020 2021)

The BSI radar unit emits radar waves from the left and right BSI radar and detects other vehicles in the blind spot. BSI system function uses the BSI radar unit. The BSI alert indicators warn the driver when a vehicle enters the driver's side or the passenger's side blind spot alert zone. If the driver turns on the turn signal while the BSI alert is on, the BSI alert flashes and an audible alarm sounds to warn the driver.

If the BSI radar unit malfunctions, the BSI system stops operating. The vehicle alerts the driver that there is a problem by turning on a warning indicator on the gauge control module.

Radar Zone Definition

The BSI radars are installed on the left and right sides of the rear side outer panel and covered by the rear bumper. The mounting positions are symmetrical on the left and the right.

The radar wave emission range and the vehicle detection range of the BSI radar unit are shown. They are symmetrical. The vehicle detection range makes up only a part of the radar wave emission range.
