DTC P084F : Parking Position Signal Circuit
General Description
The transmission control module (TCM) switches the PARKOUT output to Hi/Lo according to the parking condition of the transmission. The TCM monitors the return signal of the PARKOUT output, and when the return signal and PARKOUT output do not match for a specified duration, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The return signal and PARKOUT output do not match for at least 1 second.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- TCM PARKOUT line open (includes connector loose connection or disconnection)
- TCM PARKOUT line short to ground
- TCM internal circuit failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Start the engine.
- While pressing the brake pedal, shift the transmission to N position/mode.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
