Engine Removal And Installation (2014 2015 2016 2017): Installation

  1. Engine Mount Bracket - Install

    Install the engine mount brackets and the accessory brackets, then tighten their bolts to the specified torque.

  2. Engine - Install

    Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission. Support the engine/transmission with a chain hoist (A) and carefully raise the engine/transmission into place.

    NOTE:  Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.

  3. Upper Half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

    Install the new mounting bolts into the upper half of the side engine mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

  4. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Install

    Install the new mounting bolts into the upper transmission mount bracket, then loosely tighten the bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

  5. Engine Support Hanger - Install

    		 NOTE: 
    • Be careful when working around the windshield.
    • AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking additional cross section bars.
    • Be careful not to damage the hood opener cable when installing the engine support hanger at the front bulkhead.

    1. Install the engine hanger balance bar (VSB02C000019). Attach the front arm (A) to the front cylinder head with about a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (B) and a 10 x 1.25 mm bolt (C). Remove the rear arm from the engine hanger balance bar, then install the 2008 V6 attachment arm (SIL02C000033). Attach the 2008 V6 attachment arm to the rear cylinder head with about a 10 mm (0.39 in) spacer (D) and an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (E).

    2. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook to the slotted hole in the engine hanger balance bar. Tighten the wing nut (F) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.
  6. Chain Hoist - Remove

    Remove the chain hoist.

  7. Vehicle - Lift

    Raise the vehicle.

  8. Front Subframe - Support

    		 1. Attach the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).

    2. Raise a transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the transmission jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.
  9. Front Subframe - Install

    Align the front subframe with the subframe alignment pin, then tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque .

  10. Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt - Tighten

    Tighten the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides.

  11. Lower Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

    Tighten the new lower transmission mount bracket mounting bolts (A).

  12. Transmission Ground Cable Bracket - Install

    Install the transmission ground cable bracket.

  13. EPS Connector - Connect

    Connect the EPS connectors .

  14. Vehicle - Lift

    Lower the vehicle.

  15. Engine Support Hanger, Engine Hanger Balance Bar, and 2008 V6 Attachment Arm - Remove

    Remove the engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm.

  16. Front Engine Mount Stop and Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

    1. Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).

    2. Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts.

    3. Connect the front engine mount actuator subharness connector (C).

    4. Install the No. 6 cylinder ignition coil

  17. Rear Engine Mount Stop and Rear Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Install

    1. Tighten the new rear engine mount mounting bolt (A).

    2. Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts.

    3. Connect the rear engine mount actuator subharness connector (C).
  18. Upper half of Side Engine Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Retighten

    Loosen the mounting bolts for the upper half of the side engine mount bracket, then retighten them in the numbered sequence shown.

  19. Upper Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt - Tighten

    Tighten the upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

  20. Harness Bracket - Install

    Install the harness bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.

  21. Connector Bracket - Install

    Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.

  22. Ground Cable - Install

    1. Install the harness clamps (A).

    2. Install the ground cable (B).
  23. Battery Cable - Install

    		 1. Install the harness clamps (A).

    2. Install the battery cables (B).
  24. Engine Wire Harness Connector - Connect

    		 1. Install the harness clamps (A).

    2. Connect the engine wire harness connector (B).
  25. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box - Install

    Install the under-hood fuse/relay box.

  26. A/C Compressor - Install

    Install the A/C compressor.

  27. Alternator - Install

    Install the alternator .

  28. Radiator Assembly - Install

    Install the radiator assembly .

  29. Heater Hose - Connect

    Connect the heater hoses (A).

  30. Vehicle - Lift

    Raise the vehicle.

  31. Driveshaft - Install

    Install the driveshaft on both sides .

  32. Knuckle Holder - Connect

    Connect the knuckle holder to the knuckle on both sides .

  33. Damper Fork Mounting Bolt and Nut - Install

    Install the damper fork mounting bolt and nut on both sides .

  34. Tie-Rod End Ball Joint - Connect

    Connect the tie-rod end ball joint on both sides .

  35. Exhaust Pipe A - Install

    Install exhaust pipe A .

  36. Secondary HO2S Connector - Connect

    Connect the secondary HO2S connector .

  37. Engine Undercover - Install

    Install the engine undercover .

  38. Front Wheel - Install

    Install both front wheels .

  39. Vehicle - Lift

    Lower the vehicle.

  40. Steering Joint - Connect

    Connect the steering joint .

  41. EVAP Purge Hose - Connect

    		 1. Install the EVAP purge joint (A) to the bracket (B).

    2. Connect the EVAP purge hose (C).
  42. Fuel Feed Hose - Connect

    Connect the fuel feed hose (A), then install the quick connect fitting cover (B) .

  43. Shift Cable - Install

    Install the shift cable .

  44. PCM Connector - Connect

    		 1. Connect the PCM connectors (A).

    2. Install the harness clamp (B).
  45. Air Cleaner - Install

    Install the air cleaner .

  46. Front Strut Brace - Install

    Install the front strut brace .

  47. Engine Cover - Install

    Install the engine cover .

  48. Splash Separator - Install

    Install the splash separator.

  49. Battery - Install

    Do the battery installation procedure .

  50. Fuel Leak - Inspect

    Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

  51. Engine Oil - Refill

    Refill the engine with engine oil .

  52. ATF - Refill

    Refill the ATF .

  53. Transmission Gear - Check

    Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.

  54. Engine Coolant - Refill

    Refill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed the air from the cooling system .

  55. Fluid Leak - Check

    Check for fluid leaks.

  56. PCM - Reset

    Do the PCM reset procedure .

  57. CKP Pattern - Clear/Learn

    Do the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure .

  58. Idle Speed - Inspect

    Inspect the idle speed .

  59. Ignition Timing - Inspect

    Inspect the ignition timing .

  60. Front Grille Cover - Install

    Install the front grille cover .

  61. Hood Support Strut Normal Position - Return

    Return the hood support struts to their normal position.

  62. Wheel Alignment - Check

    Check the wheel alignment .

  63. VSA Sensor Neutral Position - Memorize

    Do the VSA sensor neutral position memorization .

  64. Steering Rack End Stop Position - Learn

    Do the steering rack end stop position learning .
