O: Shift solenoid valve ON
X: Shift solenoid valve OFF
A: Clutch pressure control solenoid valve A pressure
B: Clutch pressure control solenoid valve B pressure
C: Clutch pressure control solenoid valve C pressure
D: Clutch pressure control solenoid valve D pressure
PL: Line pressure
When shift solenoid valves A, B, C, D, and E are turned ON/OFF, the hydraulic pressure circuit opens/closes. The hydraulic pressure circuit supplies/discharges hydraulic pressure to/from each clutch and piston according to the combination of the ON/OFF status of the shift solenoid valves. Shift solenoid valves are controlled by the ON/OFF signal from the powertrain control module (PCM). A signal from the PCM is output to apply control pressure to the correct clutch and piston according to the shift schedule. The PCM uses the output values of the reverse clutch pressure sensor to detect malfunction. If the reverse clutch pressure sensor outputs abnormal value from the commanded one, the PCM detects a shift solenoid valve A stuck OFF failure and stores a DTC.

[ ]: HDS Parameter
Malfunction Threshold
Following symptom occurs at the PCM command control:
| PCM command control | Symptom |
|---|---|
| Reverse gear engagement | Low reverse clutch pressure |
Judgment condition of low reverse clutch pressure: Reverse clutch pressure sensor output value is less than 150 kPa (1.53 kgf/cm2, 22 psi).
Possible Cause
- Shift solenoid valve A stuck OFF
- Odd clutch shift valve stuck
Confirmation Procedure
With the HDS
None.
With the Driving Pattern
- Start the engine.
- With the brake pedal pressed, place the shift lever in R position/mode.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
