DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P030B, P030E, P031B, P031E, P035B, P035E (3.0L Engine)
DTC P030B: No. 1 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage DTC P030E: No. 2 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage DTC P031B: No. 3 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage DTC P031E: No. 4 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage DTC P035B: No. 5 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage DTC P035E: No. 6 Cylinder Ignition Coil Circuit Low Voltage
General Description
The ignition coils are controlled by the duty command from the powertrain control module (PCM) and the PCM provides energy to the ignition coil and ignites the spark plug. The output driver circuit in the PCM monitors the voltage level of the IGN terminal. If the abnormality of the terminal voltage level is detected, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | Depending on the driving condition |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL on |
Enable Conditions
| Condition | |
|---|---|
| State of the engine | Running |
Malfunction Threshold
The IGN terminal voltage level is OFF (low voltage) for at least 20 crankshaft revolutions despite the PCM outputs ON signal to the ignition coil.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
