Fuel Pressure Test (2.0L Engine): Test
WARNING:
Flammable - Keep Fire Away
NOTICE:
Refer to the Fuel and Emissions Systems Service Precautions before doing the procedure.
NOTE:
- If you were referred to this procedure from a troubleshooting procedure, test the fuel pressure under the same conditions the malfunction occurred (engine speed, load, throttle position, etc.).
- If the pump does not run, check for DTCs - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems(2.0L Engine) or How to Troubleshoot the Fuel and Emissions Systems(3.0L Engine) , then do the appropriate DTC troubleshooting procedure.
- Fuel Pressure - Test
Preconditions
- Fuel Pressure Relieved - Refer to: Fuel Pressure Test(2.0L Engine) or Fuel Pressure Test(3.0L Engine) or Fuel Pressure Relieving
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnected

Procedure/Specifications
1. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting (a) . (Figure 1)
NOTICE:
Place a rag or shop towel (b) over the quick-connect fitting.

2. Attach the gauge, fuel pr. 100 psi and the fuel pressure gauge attachment set. Check for leaks with the gauge set attached. (Figure 2)3. Start the engine, and let it idle.
4. Read the fuel pressure gauge.
Specifications
Condition Specification At Idle Speed 490-519 kPa (5.00-5.29 kgf/cm 2, 71.1-75.3 psi) Result
- If the fuel pressure is beyond the specified value, replace the fuel pressure regulator (part of the fuel tank unit) .
- If the fuel pressure is below the specified value, the cause may be one of the following:
- -
Abnormal the fuel pressure regulator (part of the fuel tank unit)
- -
Plugged the fuel filter (part of the fuel tank unit)
- -
Abnormal the fuel pump (part of the fuel tank unit)
