DTC P26E6  : Starter Cut Relay 2 Control Circuit High Voltage

The starter motor is controlled by on/off of the starter cut relay 1 circuit and the starter cut relay 2 circuit to start the engine. The monitor circuit in the powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the voltage level of the ST_CUT_RLY2_CL- terminal. If the voltage level is abnormal, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold 

The ST_CUT_RLY2_CL- terminal voltage level is off (high voltage) for at least 500 milliseconds despite the PCM outputs on to starter cut relay 2.

Possible Cause 

• Starter cut relay 2 circuit ST_CUT_RLY2_CL- line short to power
• PCM internal circuit failure

Diagnosis Details* 1 

Conditions for setting the DTC 

When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC 

The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
