DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P003A (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)
DTC P003A : Turbocharger Wastegate Control Actuator Position Exceeded Learning Limit
General Description
The closed mechanical stop position of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator is learned by pressing the turbocharger wastegate control actuator with a constant duty cycle against the closed mechanical stop. A range check of the mechanical stop voltage of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor is performed at first initialization and during the driving cycle. If the turbocharger wastegate control actuator position is abnormal, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The actual learned turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor voltage at mechanical stop at offset learning is less than 0.59 V or higher than 2.56 V.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor failure
- Turbocharger wastegate control actuator stuck
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
