Starting System Description - Engine Restart Function

Overview 

When the engine stalls while the vehicle is running, the engine restart function restarts the engine automatically by depressing the clutch pedal.

Engine Restart Disable Conditions 

The PCM disables the engine restart function under the one of the following conditions.

• When more than 3 seconds have passed after the engine stalls
• When the hood opens
• Engine cranking time is more than the prescribed value at engine restart
• When the auto Idle stop system related malfunction occurs
• When the engine coolant temperature is less than the prescribed value for the auto idle stop system operation
• During VSA operation
• During EPS operation
• When 12 volt battery voltage is less than the prescribed value
