DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2563 (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)
DTC P2563 : Turbocharger Wastegate Control Actuator Position Sensor Out of Range
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor circuit for physical range check. The diagnostic compares the voltages of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor read at the closed and open positions of the turbocharger valve with their respective calibrated threshold values. If the turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor output voltage is a specified value for a specified time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
Either of the conditions continues for at least 0.14 second.
- The turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor voltage [EWG Voltage From Lift Sensor] read at the closed position of the turbocharger valve is 0.08 - 0.37 V.
- The turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor voltage [EWG Voltage From Lift Sensor] read at the open position of the turbocharger valve is 4.8 - 4.88 V.

- Turbocharger wastegate control actuator position sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
