NOTICE:
Make sure you review the A/C service tips and precautions before doing repaires or servicing.
Preconditions
Key Information
Do the following before starting your work.
Remove:
- Engine Undercover - Refer to: Undercover Area (Type-S) (2024 2025) or Undercover Area (Except Type-S)
Sub-Procedure
NOTICE:
- If the A/C compressor relief valve released refrigerant to the atmosphere, determine and correct the cause of the excessive system pressure, then replace the relief valve.
- Plug the opening to keep moisture and foreign material from entering the system, and the A/C compressor oil from running out.
Installation
- A new O-ring should be used at each fitting. Be sure to use the correct O-ring for refrigerant types to avoid leakage.
Lubricant Specifications
Object Type O-Ring Refrigerant Oil - Refer to: A/C Refrigerant Oil Adjustment or A/C Refrigerant Oil Replacement After Installation
- A/C Refrigerant Evacuate and Charge
- A/C System Test - Refer to: A/C System Test or A/C System Contamination Inspection or A/C System Inspection
- B.-
NOTICE:
Make sure you review the A/C service tips and precautions before doing repaires or servicing.
Preconditions
Key Information
Do the following before starting your work.
Remove:
- Drive Belt - Refer to: Alternator Area (1.5L Engine)
Disconnect:
- Turbocharger Outlet Hose - Refer to: Intercooler Area (1.5L Engine) or Intercooler Area (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)
- A/C Condenser Area - Refer to: A/C Condenser Area (1.5L Engine)
-
- Suction Hose
- Discharge Hose
Sub-Procedure
NOTICE:
- Do not install the A/C compressor into a system unless you are completely sure that the system is free of contamination. Installing the A/C compressor into a contaminated system can result in premature A/C compressor failure. Refer to the A/C System Contamination Inspection - Refer to: A/C System Contamination Inspection or A/C System Test or A/C System Inspection .
- If the A/C compressor is marginally operable, run the engine at idle speed, and let the air conditioning work for a few minutes, then shut the engine off.
- Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.
Removal
- Refer to the figure.
Installation
NOTICE:
- Inspect the A/C lines for any signs of contamination.
- If you are installing a new A/C compressor, you must calculate the amount of refrigerant oil to be removed from it. A new A/C compressor comes with a full charge of oil. Refer to the A/C refrigerant oil replacement - Refer to: A/C Refrigerant Oil Adjustment or A/C Refrigerant Oil Replacement .
- To avoid contamination, do not return the oil to the container once dispensed, and never mix it with other kinds of refrigerant oils - Refer to: A/C Refrigerant Oil Adjustment or A/C Refrigerant Oil Replacement .
- Use the refrigerant oil immediately after opening the container, and dispose of any unused oil. The oil rapidly absorbs moisture, which damages its electrical insulating properties.
- Do not spill the refrigerant oil on the vehicle, because it may damage painted surfaces. If refrigerant oil contacts the paint, wash it off with water immediately.
After Installation
1. A/C Refrigerant Evacuate and Charge 2. A/C System Test - Refer to: A/C System Test or A/C System Contamination Inspection or A/C System Inspection 3. Cycle the A/C compressor clutch approximately 20 times by running the engine at under 2, 000 rpm for 1 minute or more and setting the A/C system to ON. This procedure seats the A/C compressor clutch sliding surfaces, and increases clutch torque capacity.

Key Information
Do the following before starting your work.
Remove:
- Engine Undercover Plate - Refer to: Undercover Area (Type-S) (2024 2025) or Undercover Area (Except Type-S)
Sub-Procedure

Removal
- Refer to the figure 1.
Figure 2
Installation
1. Inspect the oil filter to make sure the rubber seal is not stuck to the oil filter seating surface (a). (Figure 2)2. Inspect the threads (b) and the rubber seal (c). (Figure 2)3. Clean the oil filter seating surface (a). (Figure 2)
Lubricant Specifications (Figure 2)
Position Type c Engine Oil Figure 3
4. Install the oil filter by hand.
5. After the rubber seal seats, tighten the oil filter clockwise with the oil filter wrench. (Figure 3)
Specifications (Figure 3)
Specification/Standard Value 3/4 Turn Clockwise or 12 N.m (9 lbf.ft) Figure 4
6. If four numbers or marks (1 to 4 or ' to "") are printed around the outside of the oil filter, use the following procedure to tighten the oil filter. (Figure 4)
- Spin the filter on until its seal lightly seats against the oil pan, and note which number or mark is at the bottom.
- Tighten the filter by turning it clockwise three numbers or marks from the one you noted. For example, if mark ' is at the bottom when the seal is lightly seated, tighten the oil filter until the mark "" comes around to the bottom.
