   NOTE:  Do not bend the headliner. Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.

   Preconditions 

   • 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Disconnected
   • Both Front Seat-Backs Full Reclined

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   Remove: 

   • Both Dashboard Side Lids
   • Interior Trim Area Parts
   • • -

       Both Front Door Opening Seals (as needed)

     • -

       Both Rear Door Opening Seals (as needed)

     • -

       Both A-Pillar Trims

     • -

       Both B-Pillar Upper Trims

     • -

       Both C-Pillar Trims

     • -

       Tailgate Weatherstrip (as needed)

   • Center Console Area Parts - Refer to: Center Console Area(M/T) or Center Console Area(CVT)
   • • -

       CVT: Shift Lever Bracket Base (as needed)

     • -

       M/T: Shift Lever Housing Bracket (as needed)

   • Camera Cover

   NOTICE: 

   When using a new headliner, check the headliner and the pillar trim overlap. - Refer to: Airbag and Tensioner Disposal or SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment

   NOTE: 

   • After inspecting the headliner, then install the headliner .
   • The positions and number of tapes change with models.
   • Replace the tapes with new ones.

   After Installation 

   • 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Reconnect
9. I.-

   WARNING: 

   • Review the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service .
   • Wait at least 3 minutes, after disconnecting the 12 volt battery terminal.

   NOTICE: 

   If you are replacing the side curtain airbag after a deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment - Refer to: Airbag and Tensioner Disposal or SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

   Preconditions 

   • 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Disconnected

   Sub-Procedure 

   Removal 

   • Refer to the figure.

   Installation 

   NOTICE: 

   • If the side curtain airbag is frayed, or has any other visible damage, replace it. Do not attempt to repair an airbag.
   • When you install the side curtain airbag, make sure it is not twisted, and that it is not caught between the inflator bracket by the bracket bolts.
   • Make sure that the side curtain airbag inflator retainer is installed properly. Otherwise the side curtain airbag could incorrectly deploy and cause damage or injuries.
   • Assemble the wire harness of the side curtain airbag in order not to be caught.
   • Apply light force to the inflator and the adapter pipe to make sure there is no excessive play or looseness.
   • Before installing the headliner, make sure the SRS indicator works normally.

   After Installation 

   • 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Reconnect
   • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

    NOTE:  In case of reusing the capture washer, perform the shower test to confirm that there is no water leakage.
