DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0475 (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)
DTC P0475 : Active Exhaust System Electrical Failure
General Description
The electronic control unit in the active exhaust valve actuator detects error occurred in the active exhaust valve actuator and sends information to the powertrain control module (PCM) via LIN line. If the PCM receives error from the active exhaust valve actuator, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The PCM receives any of the following error:
- Short circuit to ground on the active exhaust valve actuator circuit for at least 10 seconds.
- Short circuit to power on the active exhaust valve actuator circuit for at least 10 seconds.
- Open circuit on the active exhaust valve actuator circuit for at least 10 seconds.
- Supplied voltage to the active exhaust valve actuator is less than 10 V for at least 45 seconds.
- Supplied voltage to the active exhaust valve actuator is more than 17.5 V for at least 45 seconds.
- High current is detected on the motor during the initial movement for at least 45 seconds.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Active exhaust valve actuator internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
