DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P16E4 (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)

DTC P16E4  : ACG High-temperature

The powertrain control module (PCM) continuously monitors the alternator via the local interconnect network (LIN) lines. If the PCM receives a high temperature information of the alternator, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Duration 60 seconds or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL off

Enable Conditions

Engine speed [Engine Speed] 500 rpm -

Malfunction Threshold 

The alternator temperature is 391.93 deg.F (199.96 deg.C) or more for at least 60 seconds.

Possible Cause 

NOTE:

The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

  • Alternator internal failure

Diagnosis Details 

Conditions for setting the DTC 

When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC 

The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
