ECT Sensor 1, ECT Sensor 2 Functional Inspection

Preconditions 

• Engine is cold condition (ambient temperature)

Test Procedure 

• Procedure
• • Note the ambient temperature.
  • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
  • Quickly note the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] value and the [ECT Sensor 2] value.
  • Compare the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] value and the [ECT Sensor 2] value to the recorded ambient temperature individually.

• Normal Conditions
• • -

    The difference between the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] value, the [ECT Sensor 2] value, and the ambient temperature is less than 5.4 deg.F (3 deg.C  ).

Results 

• If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the ECT sensor that differed more than 5.4 deg.F (3 deg.C) from the ambient temperature.
