DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0522, P0523 (3.5L Engine)
DTC P0522: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage DTC P0523: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit High Voltage
General Description
The engine oil pressure sensor detects engine oil pressure in the valve pause system. When the voltage from the engine oil pressure sensor is a set value for a specified time, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

DTC: P0523
The engine oil pressure sensor output voltage [Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Voltage] is 4.79 V or more for at least 2.0 seconds.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
DTC: P0522
- Engine oil pressure sensor OP_SENSOR line short to ground
- Engine oil pressure sensor VCC2 line open
DTC: P0523
- Engine oil pressure sensor OP_SENSOR line open
- Engine oil pressure sensor SG2 line open
Common
- Engine oil pressure sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
