DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P055C, P055D (3.0L Engine)
DTC P055C: Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage DTC P055D: Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Circuit High Voltage
General Description
The rocker arm oil pressure sensor detects engine oil pressure in the VTEC system. The rocker arm oil pressure sensor outputs low signal voltage at low pressure and high signal voltage at high pressure. If the rocker arm oil pressure sensor output voltage is excessively high or low, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

DTC: P055C
The rocker arm oil pressure sensor output voltage [(Rocker Arm) Oil Pressure Sensor (B) Voltage] is 0.324 V* 1 (0.193 V)* 2 or less for at least 0.5 second.
DTC: P055D
The rocker arm oil pressure sensor output voltage [(Rocker Arm) Oil Pressure Sensor (B) Voltage] is 4.813 V* 1 (4.872 V)* 2 or more for at least 0.5 second.

DTC: P055C
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor POILCS line short to ground
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor VCC11 line short to ground
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor VCC11 line open
DTC: P055D
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor POILCS line open
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor POILCS line short to power
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor SG11 line open
Common
- Rocker arm oil pressure sensor failure
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
