DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2B95 (2.0L Engine) (2024 2025)
DTC P2B95 : Cold Start Injection Control System Performance Problem
General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the fuel injection status during the catalyst heating. If the proportion of abnormal combustion to the total combustions during catalyst heating exceeds the predetermined value and any of the following symptoms occur simultaneously, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
- A.
The injection angle deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection angle.
- B.
The injection interval deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection interval.
- C.
The injection period deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection period.
- D.
The measured injection pulses are not the set pulses.

| Other | Catalyst heating must be active for at least 10 seconds | |
[ ]: HDS Parameter
Condition to finish catalyst heating
| Condition | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Engine coolant temperature [ECT Sensor 1] | 140 deg.F (60 deg.C) | - |
Malfunction Threshold
The proportion of abnormal combustion to the total combustions during catalyst heating exceeds 0.23, and occurs with any of symptom A, B, C, or D.
Symptom
- A.
The injection angle deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection angle for more than 49.99 deg..
- B.
The injection interval deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection interval for more than 32.76 milliseconds.
- C.
The injection period deviates from the normal catalyst heating injection period for more than 0.1 millisecond.
- D.
The measured injection pulses are not the set pulses.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Injector failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Start the engine under the condition of engine coolant temperature [ECT Sensor 1] less than 140 deg.F (60 deg.C), and let it idle for at least 10 seconds.
- Drive the vehicle until the engine coolant temperature [ECT Sensor 1] exceeds 140 deg.F (60 deg.C).
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
