DTC P16F5 : Starter Cut Relay 1 Control Circuit High Voltage
General Description
The short to power in starter cut relay circuit can be detected only if the starter driver is active. The monitoring is done by the powertrain control module (PCM). If the PCM detects a short circuit to power at starter cut relay 1 circuit, a DTC is stored.

Malfunction Threshold
The PCM detects a short circuit to power at starter cut relay 1 circuit for at least 0.26 seconds.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- Starter cut relay 1 circuit ST_CUT_RLY1_CL- line short to power
- PCM internal circuit failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
