DTC P05B2: Shutter Grille Actuator (Lower) Malfunction
General Description
The shutter grille system opens/closes the shutter depending on the driving conditions. The system improves fuel efficiency by reducing the wind drag. The shutter is controlled by the shutter grille which integrates the actuator with CPU. The powertrain control module (PCM) sends open/close requests which depends on the driving conditions to the shutter grille via the local interconnect network (LIN) line. If the shutter grille actuator detects the shutter grille system as electrically abnormal or LIN communication abnormal, the PCM confirms the abnormality and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
Either of these conditions occurs for at least 2.5 seconds:
- A short circuit occurs in the shutter grille actuator or the electrically erasable read-only memory (EEPROM) read/write error condition occurs.
- The LIN communication transmit/receive error condition occurs.

The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, the freeze data, and the on-board snapshot can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
