Description And Operation
DESCRIPTION
The Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) (1) is located on the transfer case assembly (2). The DTCM communicates with the vehicle systems through the Controller Area Network (CAN)-C bus to optimize the performance of the vehicles All Wheel Drive (AWD) functionality.
The DTCM is powered by the front Power Distribution Center (PDC).
OPERATION
The DTCM (1) incorporates an electronic motor (2) that rotates when actuated. The motor is connected to the worm gear (4) in the transfer case and drives this worm gear when the motor itself (3) is rotating.
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure.
