Removal And Installation: Module

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console rear trim. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, REAR TRIM .
  3. Remove the floor console front panel. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, FRONT PANEL .
  4. Remove the floor console side closings, on both sides. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, SIDE CLOSINGS .
  5. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Remove the nuts (1a).
  7. Remove the front connection (2a) releasing it from the air conditioner box air vent.
  8. Remove the air conditioning control switch pod. Refer to POD, SWITCH, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Remove the central air outlets in dashboard. Refer to OUTLET, AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Remove the gearshift knob. Refer to KNOB, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP50/850RE or KNOB, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP75 .
  11. Remove the media hub. Refer to MEDIA HUB, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  12. Remove the nut (1a).
  13. Remove the screws (2a).
  14. Remove the reinforcement bracket (3a) releasing it from the retainer (3b).

  15. Working in the central lower zone of the dashboard, disconnect the electrical connections (1a) for the TBM control module (1b).

  16. Release the various retainers (1a), open the clip (1b) for the wiring (1c) and then move the wiring (1c) out of the way.

  17. If necessary, use a suitable tool to release the soundproof cover (1a) through the holes (1b) in order to access the fixing screws and nuts for the TBM control unit.
  18. Working with a suitable wrench (2d) through the holes (1b), undo the screws (2a) and nuts (2b) for the TBM control unit (2c).

  19. Remove the TBM control unit from underneath after releasing it from the studs and nuts.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Check that the TBM control module is not damaged.

  2. Position the TBM control unit (1) and engage it on the studs and nuts.

  3. Use a suitable wrench (1a) through the holes (1b) in the dashboard trim to tighten the nuts (1c) on the studs, and then tighten the screws (1d) and secure the TBM control unit (1e).

  4. Install the wiring (1a) in position, engage the clip (1b) and engage the wiring (1a) in the various retainers (1c).

  5. Connect the electrical connections (1a) for the TBM control module (1b).

  6. Position the reinforcement bracket (1a) and engage it with the retainer (1b).
  7. Install the nut (2a) and the screws (2b) and tighten them to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  8. Position the front connection (1a) and lift it up onto the relative air conditioner vent, using the eyelets (1b), then tighten the nuts (1c).
  9. Install the media hub. Refer to MEDIA HUB, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Install the gearshift knob. Refer to KNOB, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP50/850RE or KNOB, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 8HP75 .
  11. Install the air conditioning control switch pod. Refer to POD, SWITCH, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Install the central air outlets in dashboard. Refer to OUTLET, AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Install the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  14. Install the floor console side closings, on both sides. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, SIDE CLOSINGS .
  15. Install the floor console front panel. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, FRONT PANEL .
  16. Install the floor console rear trim. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, REAR TRIM .
  17. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  18. Only if replacing the TBM control module:
    • Connect the diagnostics equipment to the EOBD socket on the vehicle, go to TBM control module in the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu, launch the "Control unit" procedure and carefully follow the instructions on the diagnosis equipment.
    • If the procedure completes successfully, the operator must perform the following steps:
      • Check that the vehicle is located in an area where GPS and the mobile network are available.

      • Turn the key on and hold it for at least 10 min (in this case, the TBM will run some activities to connect to the server and the popup will be displayed simultaneously on the Radio screen)
      • Perform a Key-Off /Key-On. The pop-up will appear on the Radio screen again.
      • Wait for 2 min and perform a key-off/key-on cycle. If a popup continues to appear on the Radio screen, the TBM is not yet ready for use. Wait another 2 minutes and perform a key-off/key-on cycle again. If the popup on the Radio screen is no longer present, the TBM is ready for use and the procedure has been completed.
      • If after 3 attempts to wait 2 minutes, perform a key-off/key-on cycle again. If the popup is still displayed on the Radio screen, open a ticket to the Help Desk.
