Fuel Level Sensor 2, Checking
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hand-held multimeter -V.A.G 1526C-
- Connector test set -V.A.G 1594C
Procedure
- Remove rear seat bench. Refer to BENCH SEAT .
- Unbolt cover for right locking flange -arrows-.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector -arrow- at locking flange.
- Connect multimeter between terminal -3- and -4- for resistance measurement.
Fuel Level Sensor 2 -G169- installed:
- Sensor at lower stop: approximately 790 to 975 Ω.
- Sensor at upper stop: approximately 50 to 86 Ω.
NOTE:
- If measured value is 0 Ω there is a short circuit. If measured value is ∞ Ω there is and open circuit in the wiring.
- To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty", the fuel level sensor 2 must be removed and the sensor floater must be placed in upper or lower end position. Refer to Fuel Level Sensor .
- With fuel gauge sender removed, the following values are obtained because of the greater deflection of the floater arm:
Fuel level sensor 2 removed:
- Sensor at lower stop: approximately 1004 Ω.
- Sensor at upper stop: approximately 50 Ω.
Assembly is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install rear seat bench. Refer to BENCH SEAT .
