Power Steering System, Checking For Leaks And Checking Fluid Level And Filling

WARNING:

High Voltage System Warning Messages:

Working When the Ignition May Not Be On, refer to WORKING WHEN THE IGNITION MAY NOT BE ON .

NOTE:

Do not let the engine run.

The front wheels pointing straight ahead.

Cold Fluid (approximately 70 °F (20°C):

-- Remove cover.

-- Clean dipstick with clean cloth.

-- Screw cap on hand-tight and remove again.

NOTE:

Screw cap fully in to get an accurate fluid level reading.

-- Check the oil level: The oil level must be within the -B- range.

Warm Fluid (approximately 176 °F (80°C):

-- Remove cover.

-- Clean dipstick with clean cloth.

-- Screw cap on hand-tight and remove again.

NOTE:

Screw cap fully in to get an accurate fluid level reading.

-- Check the fluid level: The fluid level must be within the -A- range.

NOTE:

If oil level is above specified range, fluid must be extracted off.

Do not use extracted power steering fluid.

WARNING:

If the fluid level is below the specified level, check the power steering system for leaks (repair measure). It is not sufficient just to add fluid.
