Heater And A/C Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing
There is a risk of scalding from hot steam and coolant.
- The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
- To reduce the pressure, cover the coolant reservoir cap with several cloths and then open it carefully.
-- Open the coolant reservoir cap -arrow-.
-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit, Discharging or Working With A/C Service Station .
-- Remove the tower brace. Refer to TOWER BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Cover the area beneath connections for coolant hoses in the plenum chamber, for example with absorbent paper.
-- Mark the location of the coolant hoses.
Keep a container underneath the respective coolant hose to prevent the coolant from entering the plenum chamber when removing coolant hoses.
-- Clamp off the coolant hoses -1 and 4- with the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 and remove the heater core by loosening the hose clamps -2 and 3-.
-- Slide a short hose -A and C- onto both of the connections.
- Insert a compressed-air gun -D- into the end of the hose.
-- Hold the container -B- under the second hose and carefully blow the coolant out of the heater core using the compressed-air gun.
-- Loosen the grommet -3- from the plenum chamber bulkhead mount -2- and remove it from the heater core connections -1-.
-- Remove the expansion valve. Refer to EXPANSION VALVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the retaining plate -A- from the refrigerant lines -B and C-.
-- Coat the support ring -E- with lubricant and pry it out of the mount toward the front.
-- Loosen the grommet -D- to the A/C unit from the plenum chamber bulkhead mount.
There is a risk of ruining the grommet.
- The grommet is connected to the A/C system and can be removed directly after disassembling the A/C system.
-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the air intake housing. Refer to AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the nut -2- and then remove the ground cable -1-.
-- Open the tab -4- to disconnect the connector -3-.
-- Remove the air guide -2- upward.
-- Free up the wiring harness -1-.
-- Disconnect the connector from the Right Vent Temperature Sensor -G151-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- from the expanding clip.
-- Remove the instrument panel vent air guide -1-.
-- Remove the central tube. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTRAL TUBE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the rear air guide channel. Refer to REAR AIR GUIDE CHANNEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the condensation water drain hose -1- from the A/C unit connection -2- on the left and right.
-- Remove the bolt -3- and move the tab -4- in direction of -arrow- to release.
-- Remove the air guide channel -1 and 3- for the rear footwell vent from the air distribution housing -2- and move to the side -arrows-.
-- Pull the air distribution housing slightly toward the rear and remove it to the right.
