Adjusting rear lid lock

Special tools required: 

Prerequisite: 

Rear lid must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, adjust rear lid.

Only perform on vehicles with production date before 11/17: 

Fully screw in stop pad (1) on trunk lid (2) on left and right.

See ADJUSTING/REPLACING BUMP STOPS  on trunk lid.

Lift out covers (1) with special tool 00 9 322.

Slacken screws (1) until striker (2) can still just be shifted and centers itself.

Attention! 

Striker (2) must not brush against rear lid lock.

Close trunk lid.

Check gap dimensions and locking comfort.

If necessary, repeat procedure.

NOTE: When the trunk lid is closed, the striker must not tap or scrape against the rear lid lock. Look out for scratch marks.

Open trunk lid.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 24 2AZ .

Only perform on vehicles with production date before 11/17: 

Screw out stop pad (1) left/right until they are in contact with the trunk lid.

It must be possible to pull out paper strips with moderate friction resistance between the trunk lid and stop pad (1).

Then screw out stop pad (1) one-half rotation further.
