32 11 100 Replacing bellows for steering box on left or right
WARNING:
High-voltage system - mortal hazard
- Observe SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS for handling electric vehicles.
IMPORTANT:
The steering box must be replaced if the polished surface of the rack is damaged (e.g. by corrosion)!
Preliminary work needed:
- Refer to REMOVING TIE ROD END .
Clean tie rod.
Release EAR CLAMP (1) and band clamp (2).
Detach bellows from tie rod.
Installation note:
Clean rack and check surface for damage (e.g. by corrosion).
Clean tie rod and apply grease to taper.
- This ensures that the bellows is not rotated when the tie rod is rotated.
After installation:
- Carry out wheel alignment procedure. Refer to 32 00 155 KDS WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECKING WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT VEHICLE LOAD .
