Engine Control - TPS Is Not Adjustable

SUBJECT: THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR IS NOT ADJUSTABLE

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL 1982-85 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 1.8L ENGINE (VIN CODES O & J) AND ALL 1983-85 MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODES R & U)


Throttle Position Sensors are non-adjustable on 2.5L Engines (VIN Codes R & U) and 1.8L Engines (VIN Codes O & J). No attempt should be made to adjust Throttle Position Sensors on subject engines. Throttle Position Sensors that do not meet specifications should be replaced. The TPS on the 1982 2.5L engine is adjustable.

With the release of this bulletin, Labor Operation J6357 will no longer be valid for Engine Codes O, J, R and U with the exception of the 1982 2.5L engine.
