Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows driver to operate several vehicle features from outside car using a hand held radio transmitter. Remote Accessory Control (RAC) module receives digitally encoded UHF signals from a key chain transmitter. Effective range of transmitter is about 33 ft. (10 meters) at freezing and about 23 ft. (7 meters) at temperatures below freezing.
RAC module operates door locks, trunk lid release, Retained Accessory Power (RAP), remote keyless entry, automatic door locks, illuminated entry and theft deterrent system. See appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article in ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
