Section 5 (Clutches): Description

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

System uses a single-plate clutch disc, a diaphragm spring pressure plate and a permanently lubricated clutch release bearing. Clutch release system is hydraulic, and consists of a clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, clutch actuator cylinder and clutch release fork. System provides automatic clutch release adjustment.

Corvette uses a dual-mass flywheel. Primary flywheel (closest to engine) is attached to secondary flywheel by means of 2 rows of torsional damper springs, with the interface riding on a ball bearing.
