Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION:Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the camshaft position sensor.
3. Remove the camshaft position sensor retaining screw.
4. Remove the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor from the engine front cover.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the camshaft position sensor to the engine front cover.
2. Install the camshaft position sensor retaining bolt.

Tighten:
Tighten the bolt to 5 Nm (44 lb. in.).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Connect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
