System Check
- Turn ignition on. Turn cruise control main switch on. If cruise control main switch indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If cruise control main switch indicator light does not illuminate, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Drive vehicle at speeds greater than 25 MPH. Turn cruise control main switch on. Press SET/COAST button once and release. Remove foot from accelerator pedal. If CRUISE indicator light on instrument cluster illuminates and vehicle maintains set speed, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator light does not illuminates or vehicle does not maintain set speed, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Press and hold RESUME/ACCEL switch until vehicle speed increases 4-5 MPH. Release switch. If vehicle accelerated and maintains new set speed, go to next step. If vehicle does not accelerate and maintain new set speed, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Depress brake pedal slightly, and then release. If cruise control disengages and retains previously set speed in memory, go to next step. If cruise control does not disengage or does not retain previously set speed in memory, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Press RESUME/ACCEL switch once and release. If CRUISE indicator light illuminates, vehicle accelerates and maintains previously set speed with memory unchanged, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Tap-up RESUME/ACCEL switch (depress for less than 3/4 of a second). If vehicle speed increases by one MPH and maintains new set speed, system is okay. If vehicle speed does not increase by one MPH and maintain new set speed, go to CRUISE CONTROL INOPERATIVE under SYSTEM TESTS.
