Pass-Key(R) III System Quick Learn Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: PASS-Key(R) III system quick learn procedure is used to learn additional ignition keys (Black master or Gray valet). A learned Black master key must be used to initiate procedure. Up to 10 ignition keys can be learned.
  1. Insert a valid master ignition key (Black) in the ignition switch. Start engine. After 10 seconds, turn ignition off and remove key.
  2. Within 10 seconds, insert new valid mechanical coded unlearned key and turn ignition switch to RUN position. SECURITY indicator light will illuminate until key is learned. This may happen so quickly light is not observed. Turn ignition off and remove key 10 seconds after light turns out. To learn additional keys, repeat this step.
