Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector (5) from the EGR valve (1).
3. Remove the 2 EGR valve retaining nuts (4).
4. Remove the EGR valve from the EGR valve adapter (3).
5. Remove the gasket (2) from the EGR valve adapter.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install a new gasket (2) on the EGR adapter (3).
2. Position the EGR valve (1) to the EGR valve adapter.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the 2 nuts (4) to the EGR valve (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

4. Connect the electrical connector (5) to the EGR valve (1).
