Removal & Installation

WARNING: Do not touch connector pins or soldered components on circuit board in order to prevent possible electrostatic discharge damage to Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
WARNING: Turn ignition switch to OFF position when installing or removing Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting power to PCM in order to prevent internal PCM damage.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness connector. Loosen clamp attaching air intake duct to air cleaner housing. Carefully remove air intake duct from throttle body and from air cleaner housing.
  2. Remove 2 screws from both air cleaner housing sections. Remove air cleaner housing cover assembly. See Fig 1 . Remove Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with harness from PCM housing without disconnecting PCM harness connectors. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. See Fig 2 .
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Program replacement PCM using appropriate equipment and latest software. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING  under PROGRAMMING.
