Powertrain Control Module: Installation

  1. Install the connectors to the PCM. Tighten the connectors to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). See Fig 2 .
  2. Carefully reinstall the PCM (3) and harness into the PCM housing (2).
  3. Reinstall the air cleaner housing cover assembly (1). See Fig 1 .
  4. Reinstall the two screws (2) from the two air cleaner housing sections.
  5. Carefully reinstall the air intake duct to the throttle body and air cleaner housing.
  6. Tighten the clamp securing the air intake duct to the air cleaner housing.
  7. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  8. The replacement PCM will NOT allow secondary air pump operation until a total of 10 miles have been accumulated.
  9. The new PCM must be programmed. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
