Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air cleaner assembly to the engine compartment over the stud on the inner fender.
  2. IMPORTANT: VIN K has a black drain tube under the PCM housing and a black inlet area.
  3. Inspect to see that the coolant recovery hose is not trapped under the air cleaner assembly.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the screws securing the air cleaner assembly to the radiator support.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

  6. Secure the air cleaner assembly to the stud on the inner fender with the nut, if equipped.
    1. Push to secure the nut.
    2. Assure that the nut is fully seated.
  7. IMPORTANT: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the intake air duct must be lined up to the throttle body when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect air flow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveability concern.
  8. Install the air cleaner element. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement .

  10. Carefully Install the PCM into the air cleaner housing. Refer to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Replacement .
  11. Install the air cleaner top cover.
  12. Install the screws in the air cleaner top cover.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
