Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the sunshade switch.
  2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal A and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal C and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance, if the circuit tests normal, replace the rear window sunshade module.
  4. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the sunshade switch and disconnect the C1 harness connector at the rear window sunshade module.
  5. Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, replace the rear window sunshade module.
  7. Ignition OFF, connect the C1 harness connector and disconnect the C2 harness connector.
  8. Connect a test lamp between the control terminal 1 and the control terminal 2 at the rear window sunshade module.
  9. Ignition ON, command the rear window sunshade to EXTEND and RETRACT by pressing the sunshade switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the EXTEND and RETRACT states.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, replace the rear window sunshade module.
  10. If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the rear window sunshade actuator.
