Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the sunshade switch.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal A and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal C and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance, if the circuit tests normal, replace the rear window sunshade module.
- Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the sunshade switch and disconnect the C1 harness connector at the rear window sunshade module.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, replace the rear window sunshade module.
- Ignition OFF, connect the C1 harness connector and disconnect the C2 harness connector.
- Connect a test lamp between the control terminal 1 and the control terminal 2 at the rear window sunshade module.
- Ignition ON, command the rear window sunshade to EXTEND and RETRACT by pressing the sunshade switch. The test lamp should illuminate when commanding the EXTEND and RETRACT states.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, replace the rear window sunshade module.
- If all circuits tests normal, test or replace the rear window sunshade actuator.
