Installation Procedure
- In case of reuse of the exhaust parts, check the exhaust pipes at the separating sets for the following conditions:
- Roundness of the exhaust pipe, any deformation in the range of the double-clamp must be eliminated.
- Burrs inside and outside the exhaust pipe at the cutting edge, use a file to eliminate.
- Rust at the exhaust pipe outside, use a sandpaper to eliminate.
- Install the exhaust pipe (4) with a NEW gasket (6) to the exhaust particulate filter.
- Support the exhaust pipe.
- Install the 2 nuts (5) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe clamp (3) and tighten loosely.
- Hang in the exhaust hanger insulator (1).
- Position the exhaust pipe (4) and the exhaust rear muffler (2).
- Tighten the exhaust pipe clamp (3) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the underbody brace - rear V-rod. Refer to Underbody Brace Replacement - Rear V-Rod .
- There must be a distance (a) between the underbody brace - rear V-rod (2) and exhaust pipe (1) of 16 mm (0.63 in).
- If distance (a) between underbody - rear V-rod (2) and exhaust pipe (1) is under 16 mm (0.63 in) align the exhaust pipe once again by loosening the exhaust pipe nuts.
- Lower and unsupport the vehicle.
NOTE:
A second technician is required.
