Component Testing
Passenger/Rear Window Motor Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate passenger or rear M74 Window Motor.
- Install a 20 A fused jumper wire between one of the control terminals and 12 V. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the other control terminal and ground. Reverse the jumper wires at least two times, the M74 Window Motor should perform the UP and DOWN functions.
- If the M74 Window Motor does not perform the UP and DOWN functions
Replace the passenger or rear M74 Window Motor.
- If the M74 Window Motor performs the UP and DOWN functions
- If the M74 Window Motor does not perform the UP and DOWN functions
- All OK
Passenger/Rear Window Switch
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate passenger or rear S79 Window Switch.
- Test for infinite resistance between the ignition terminal and the control terminal listed below with the switch in the center position.
- Ignition terminal 5 and control terminal 1
- Ignition terminal 5 and control terminal 3
- Ignition terminal 5 and control terminal 4
- Ignition terminal 5 and control terminal 6
- If less than infinite resistance
Replace the passenger or rear S79 Window Switch.
- If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the control terminals listed below with the switch in the center position.
- Control terminal 1 and control terminal 3
- Control terminal 4 and control terminal 6
- If 2 Ω or greater
Replace the passenger or rear S79 Window Switch.
- If less than 2 Ω
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the ignition terminal 5 and the control terminal 1 with the switch in the Up position.
- If 2 Ω or greater
Replace the passenger or rear S79 Window Switch.
- If less than 2 Ω
- If 2 Ω or greater
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the ignition terminal 5 and the control terminal 4 with the switch in the Down position.
- If 2 Ω or greater
Replace the passenger or rear S79 Window Switch.
- If less than 2 Ω
- If 2 Ω or greater
- All OK
