Removal Procedure
WARNING:
Refer to Safety Goggles and Fuel Warning
WARNING:
Refer to Diesel/Gasoline Vapors Warning
WARNING:
Refer to Fuel Vapors in Evaporative Emission Components Warning
- Disconnect the battery negative cable - Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION AND CONNECTION (2.0L LTG)
- Remove the fuel tank - Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (AWD) or Fuel Tank Replacement (FWD)
Disconnect the electrical connector:
- Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module (2)
- Fuel Pressure Sensor (3)
- Fuel Tank Vent Pipe (1) - Disconnect - Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Fuel Feed Pipe - Fuel Pump Module to Underbody (4) - Disconnect - Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- NOTE:
Do NOT use impact tools. Significant force will be required to release the lock ring. The use of a hammer and screwdriver is not recommended. Secure the fuel tank in order to prevent fuel tank rotation.
Fuel Pump Lock Ring (1) - Remove - Use the special tool: CH-45722 Fuel Sender Lock Ring Wrench (2)
Lift gently the fuel tank fuel pump module (1) until the fuel pump vent pipe (3) is accessible.
- (3) - Disconnect - Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Disconnect the electrical connector. (2)
Lift gently the fuel tank fuel pump module until the fuel sender (1) is accessible.
- Fuel Sender (1) - Disconnect - Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module (1) - Remove
- O-Ring (2) - Remove and DISCARD
